‘Scream’ beats ‘Spider-Man: No Home’ to top box office

Scream held the number one spot at the national box office, grossing $3.7 million on Friday.

According to the Box Office Mojo database, the horror film reboot has grossed $42.6 million to date.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” remained in second place, grossing $3.5 million on Friday after “Scream” dropped out of number one at its premiere last week, and grossing $710 million to date.

The romance film Redemption of Love, based on the 1991 novel, took third place with $1.5 million in ticket sales on its opening Friday.
