A 1-year-old boy was playing at an Ohio home when he was shot and killed by another toddler.
Braylon Robinson was playing with his friend at a house in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday when the unattended 3-year-old picked up the loaded gun and pulled the trigger.
The bullet struck Braylon in the face and, minutes later, he was rushed to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Investigators are currently trying to figure out where the gun came from and who left it within reach of the toddler.
According to Braylon’s cousin, Trashawn Robinson, Braylon was always smiling and kept the family happy.
“Everybody loved Braylon,” he said.
Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams noted that the fascination that Cleveland — and America as a whole — has with handguns must come to an end.
“This is a senseless loss of life,” Williams said.
Williams added that the department is currently investigating the origin of the firearm, since a 3-year-old obviously can’t be held accountable for such a tragedy. According to Williams, there must have been an adult who supplied the weapon and made no effort to safeguard the children from it.
