When you go to a restaurant, you have to trust that the staff will treat your food with respect. However, that is not always the case.
Not long ago, a fast-food worker at the Detroit Tigers stadium was caught on tape spitting a string of saliva into a customer’s pizza before serving it over the counter.
Allegedly the worker was just mad and not even targeting a specific customer. But when a 22-year-old McDonald’s worker specifically poisoned a police officer’s order, he realized very quickly that the law was not going to side with him.
Trevor Hockaday does not like the police. So when an officer came into McDonald’s, he put “four little squirts” of a peroxide-based cleaner into the officer’s order as a prank. But it was no joke.
The officer quickly fell ill after the visit to the Iola, Kansas McDonald’s location. And when the news got about the officer’s sickness, a coworker reported Hockaday’s horrible behavior to authorities resulting in the young man’s arrest on September 12, 2018.
Hockaday now faces one count of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer and faces up to two decades in prison. That means by the time he gets out of prison, he will have spent nearly half his life behind bars for a stupid decision he made in a moment.
The incident occurred when Hockaday poured the peroxide-based cleaner into the Allen County deputy’s drink. The officer trusted the McDonald’s worker and drank his soft drink after going through the drive-thru window. He had no idea that Hockaday had poisoned him. But he began experiencing flu-like symptoms in a matter of hours after consuming the poisoned beverage. It did not take long for police to figure out that Hockaday was behind the poisoning.
Allen County Sheriff Bryan Murphy told the Eagle that Hockaday used the counter cleaner to poison the cop.
“(The officer) thought he caught the bug, but we found out two weeks later when an employee came forward and told the police department,” Murphy said.
The owner of the local McDonald’s location was horrified to discover that one of his workers poisoned the police officer. The owner is Glen Nichols and says they are working with the police to speed up the investigation.“In our restaurants, nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our customers,” Nichols told WOAM in a very politically-correct statement.
“We are very disappointed by the allegations made regarding the behavior of one of our former crew members. This kind of behavior goes against our food safety standards and is not tolerated.”Readers are shocked that the McDonald’s worker risked his future for such a stupid incident.
Daily Mail readers shamed Hockaday for his bad behavior.“If only his mother had been more diligent with her birth control back in 1995, society wouldn’t have this problem today,” David from San Diego, California, wrote.“The officer should have gone to Chick-fil-A. They tend to hire good people there who love America and support the police.”Do you think the McDonald’s worker should get the full twenty-year prison sentence?
